All About April !

Hello and welcome to our April newsletter.

The month begins with Mother’s Day and ends with a Royal Wedding. In between, we have the world famous Melrose Sevens rugby tournament followed by Easter, so there’s plenty going on!

We have had some beautiful Spring weather recently too but with rather more of the wintry type!  Now that the clocks have moved forward let’s hope we can also look forward to longer and warmer days.

In the shop it’s nice to see new season stock arriving; some already here and lots more to come! The exciting news is that we have just received stock of our very own set of notecards, featuring familiar Border scenes but with a bright, colourful twist! (The mosaic above shows the individual images.) They have been digitally created from original photographs and although the colours have been accentuated they are generated from within each photograph. The pack of six cards is ideal not only for writing quick notes to family and friends but also to give as a small gift and would make an excellent memento of the Borders. We are thrilled with them and hope you will be too. At only £3.75 each pack they are also excellent value but you can SAVE an extra 50p during April in our introductory offer.  Each card is A6 size (6 x 4 ins.).

Also, on the subject of cards and stationery, we have stock from a new supplier, Pomegranate, in the USA. They work closely with galleries and museums around the world, producing cards using images of famous works of art.

Adding a splash of bright, floral colour, are the covers on some small note pads by Australian designer, Christopher Vine, that have just come in. Only £4.75, they are ideal for keeping in your handbag, by the telephone, in the kitchen, in the office, anywhere! We also have some great ballpoints with laser-cut barrel designs at only £1.99!

On the home decor front, give a room a new look with this fabulous large, circular mirror, great for reflecting light and space. Or we have elegant mirrored side tables that would be equally at home on either end of a sofa or at the bedside.

We also have ornamental ceramic and glass in dramatic black and silver. For something different we have two beautiful black lacquer pieces: a box with “tiger skin” design and an asymmetrical bowl in striking turquoise and black. Amber glass with a raised swirl design or a beautiful large flask-shaped vase with a gold finish can all add a stylish final touch.

Other decorative pieces in ceramic include tealight holders at only £5.95, plus an owl and an amusing cat. There are also other cats in a textured golden bronze finish.

Three new table lamps have also arrived. One has a large frosted glass base that two customers immediately likened to Lalique. Fortunately, it isn’t that expensive! The second is a traditional style in antique brass finish and the third is actually a pair of smart, slim lamps in nickel and black with white pleated shades; ideal for a mantlepiece, bookcase or narrow shelf.

There are other things that have arrived recently such as WoodWick candles and reed diffusers. These are the last items from the old supplier, as the Virginia Candle Co. have recently appointed a new UK distributor, and are at prices that will not be repeated, so grab them while you can!

Whatever your gift or home decor needs might be, we hope to see you soon. And remember to get your pack of our new notecards while the offer price is on!
