Hello and welcome to our February newsletter.
Even though we have left January behind, you will be happy to hear that we still have selected items on sale at up to 50% off and the VAT will remain unchanged on our existing stock.
You may remember that our star bargain in January was the 'Ina' lamp from Mindy Brownes. One of our customers knew a good deal when he saw one and took advantage of the offer to buy not one but two of them, saving himself a cool £293!! And plenty of others made good savings too on a variety of great products. Make sure you don't miss out!
But now to February and St. Valentine. It may be exciting to have a secret admirer but it's nice to know the special someone who is thinking of us. If the thought is accompanied by a little token of their affection, so much the better! And that is exactly what we have put together in our shop window; a 'chocolate box' selection of such tokens, starting from as little as £1.99, just to show that it really is the thought that counts. We do, however, have something a little more special, if that is required. Admittedly, these tokens are weighted rather more in favour of ladies but we do have things for gentlemen. Two weekends ago we were in Glasgow at a trade fair. We were hoping to discover more products of quality and difference to add to our selection and we're happy to say that we did indeed see several suitable candidates; some, made in Scotland. It is the consensus of those within the retail world that more "considered spending" will be the guiding principle for many folks during 2011, leading to a desire for items which combine quality, style, usefulness and good value; no pressure then?! Fortunately, we have always tried to seek out gifts and home decor pieces with just those qualities, with especial emphasis on providing good value and fair prices. This is reflected in our current offering which ranges literally from £1.99 (small blue & white ceramic balls) to £199 (the discounted price on a mahogany half moon table).
Over the next few months we hope to add more items of interest from those we saw at the trade fair. Whenever possible, we try to source goods made in the UK and, at the moment, we have art work, greetings cards, jewellery and toiletries that fit the bill quite apart from Suzanne Kirk's teddy bears and other creatures, handmade right here in Melrose. As ever, we'll keep you up-to-date with new arrivals.
In the meantime, Happy Valentine's Day !
