Merry Christmas Everyone!

Hello and welcome to our Blog. This is where we will post the news about everything that is happening at Present Perfect: new stock arrivals, product features, sales and promotions, or whatever may pop into our heads! We hope you enjoy reading. Please leave a comment. We're always happy to hear from you.

With only two weeks to go before the big day, the festive spirit is well and truly in the air. We have been rather busy since the beginning of December and it has been a pleasure to see those of you who have already popped into the shop. If you still have a few gaps in your shopping list, we may be able to help.

In December, we are open seven days a week until Christmas:
Sundays & Mondays 12 noon to 4 p.m.
Tuesday to Saturday, as usual, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Thursday, 17 December, along with some other Melrose shops, we shall be having a late night opening until 8 p.m. Why not call in to say hello?

For festive fragrance we have WoodWick candles in traditional Holiday Glow (cinnamon and cloves). This also comes in a reed diffuser, which means you can perfume your home without worrying about candle flames.  Frazier Fir (the most natural pine fragrance ever, I think) or how about the new Peppermint Cocoa (just imagine your favourite mint chocolate!) In attractive glass or ceramic containers they will add to your decoration scheme.

We also have candles from the Irish company, Torc, in cinnamon or vanilla; attractively packaged, they make ideal stocking fillers at only £4.95.

All sorts of other candle-related items are available from inexpensive tea-light holders to candlesticks in crystal or mango wood. We also have several styles of hurricane lanterns, any of which can help to add a warm, welcoming glow to your home.

Of course, we have lots of other gift ideas: photograph frames, large and small; vases in glass, ceramic and metal; ornaments and home decor items; wall art, plus, of course, some beautiful table lamps. We also have gorgeous handmade jewellery including cufflinks and there are notebooks, notepads and address books in black or brown 'moc croc', ideal for men.

And, if your Christmas tree should need a little extra sparkle, we have a selection of decorations, including some cheery tin snowmen at £1.99. Go on, spoil it!

We hope all of that sounds tempting and look forward to wishing you the compliments of the season if you have the opportunity to call in. If not, then we hope that you will have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.

As The Nights Draw In.

Hello and welcome to our second blog newsletter. Last week we received the second half of our order from Parlane. As you may know, Parlane is an interiors lifestyle company with a wide range of beautifully designed products, from jewellery to furniture. We are proud to stock a selection and have around forty different products currently available. It is always exciting to open the big box! (Do remember that you can enlarge the photographs by clicking on them.)

These glass flasks/vases are new in. The 'skittle' flasks, in pearlised glass, have an elegant outline. They are priced £29.95 and £35.95. The two smaller vases have an unusual notched surface where the white upper layer has been cut into, to reveal the lower frosted surface. These are priced £17.85 and £24.45. They will all help provide a bright spot in any interior. Also in the picture are glass plates, from Shudehill. They cost £9.25 (square) and £4.99 (triangular).

These candlesticks are made from mango wood and have a natural, rustic finish. Their height makes them impressive. Priced at £19.95 and £24.95 they offer great value too (candles extra). Also, in the left of the picture are scented candles from Torc. They come in four fragrances, ideal for the festive season and at £4.95 each couldn't be a better buy. The small vase is aubergine sparkling glass from Shudehill, similar to the blue ones mentioned in our previous post. The giraffe is also from Shudehill. It has been so popular that we have sold out twice! More may be coming in.
Of course, we also have many other Parlane items in stock, including crystal tealight holders at £4.95 and glass paperweights at £5.99 and £7.99. There is something to suit all tastes and budgets. How about these metal hearts? Embossed with a flower design, they are suitable to hang as Christmas decorations or all year round; priced £3.95 and £8.75.

We have other Christmas decorations from Parlane, including some rather cute Mooses, seen here on the cover of the Parlane catalogue.

This little cameo of black and red is a sort of Halloween/Christmas mix! You saw 'Brombeere' bear in our first newsletter; he is wearing a very fetching necklace here, handmade by Juli Miller. It is an impressive glass "doughnut" on a black-covered metal cord, at £60. There is also one of Suzanne's owls (£8) as well as our ever popular WoodWick candles and the 'hatbox' of votive candles, all fragranced. The black nickel pillar candlesticks, from Tiger Tiger Home, are £75 for the pair. You will also see cheery snowman and robin Christmas cards (99p each). Our other Christmas cards have also arrived; these are in packs of five from Bugart (£3.45) and Little Acorn (£2.80).

We never keep large quantities of any individual item, so hurry in! We look forward to seeing you.

And so, what news is there today? After our visit to the Home & Gift Fair in Harrogate in July, new stock is starting to arrive. We have more jewellery selections: the first is from Jules Jules. Juli Miller's studio is in Ponteland, Northumberland, where she creates beautiful handmade glass pieces, some combined with semi-precious onyx beads.

A new range uses textile and wooden beads (environmentally sound) to give a very natural, almost ethnic look. See above centre.

Under the label Jules + Fiona, she and her friend make ceramic jewellery (above left) with an enamel glaze. These are distinctly different, chunky pieces, which I love but, of course, your opinion is what counts.

At left, we also have new pieces from Look East. Designed in Australia, these items are inexpensive and allow you to ring the changes! Prices from £5.50 for a bracelet.

In the home fragrance department we are thrilled to announce the arrival of Pairfum. This innovative range not only includes candles, room sprays and wardrobe/draw sachets but also perfumed leaves! Each leaf has a fine coating of fragranced wax that perfumes the air. A minimum of six leaves come packed in an attractive box, which will last for around six months. We also have two styles of stand for use with the leaves; together they turn the leaf into a decorative item which will look good in any part of your home.
Candles £19.95, Leaves £18.95 per box, Leaf Stand £8.95, Room Spray £14.50, Wardrobe Sachet £8.95.

From Shudehill we have small vases in sparkling blue glass (left)and some friendly metal owls (below)! More goods are on the way.

Speaking of owls, have you seen the wise bunch we have, along with some cool cats, all from Suzanne Kirk's Melrose studio? Suzanne makes these simple creatures in different materials, giving each one a unique character and charm. They will help cheer up any room of the house and can sit quietly on a bookcase, bedside table or even your computer work station!
Owls £8, Cats £9 each. (Please note, these are not toys and are unsuitable for children.)

Suzanne has also begun making a variety of dog models. These involve a lot more work and so come with a higher price tag but the personality of each one shines out. Just take a look at (from l to r) 'Wilbur' £24 and 'Cyrus' £30, along with their new friend 'Fritzl' £27!

Of course, we always have one or two of Suzanne's Eildon Bears in the shop. Once again, these are collectors items, made from genuine mohair, with glass eyes and cotterpin joints; each one is unique. Meet 'Brombeere' (that's Blackberry to you and me!). He is made from black string mohair and wears a red silk waistcoat, £65.

There you have it, for the moment. Stock is arriving all the time and we'll let you know when it comes in. Naturally, we have all the usual items too, including our lighting selection and the occasional furniture pieces.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
